GetchaBooks

I am one of the three creators of GetchaBooks, a service designed to make textbook purchasing easier.

Upon visiting GetchaBooks, users select their school (currently limited to Tufts University and Bard College, with significant expansion planned for next semester) and input all of their courses. Our service generates a list of all the books the user needs, compares prices across a number of online book vendors, and lets users view all of their options and easily buy their books from the best vendors.

Tufts HCI Lab

I have formal training in Human-Computer Interaction with Professor Robert Jacob at Tufts University, including work with the Tufts HCI Lab. Professor Jacob's research focuses mostly on brain-computer interaction and tangible interfaces.

I also co-designed the current web page for the HCI Lab

Hydropol.us

As a project for a web programming course during the fall of 2009, I worked with three fellow students to create a social networking site intended for a business environment. I collaborated with one other person to design the site's frontend interface.

Our basic design philosophy arose out of two ideas: a water-based design metaphor playing off of the idea of the water cooler as the basic unit of office socialization, and the goal of creating a social networking experience that was as streamlined as possible.

The site functionally consists of only two pages: a search interface, and a lightweight profile page that intelligently arranges information by anticipating what the user wishes to do based on their interaction history with the user whose profile they are viewing.

Internal Web Tools

I have designed and deployed web-based software for a number of clients, including an ILS for an internal technical library at Teradata and a customer and seating information database frontend for the SF Playhouse.

Past projects have ranged from building custom tools from scratch to heavy modification of pre-existing open-source software to suit the client's needs. I have worked using a variety of platforms and frameworks, although the bulk of my experience lies with a PHP in a LAMP setting.

Freelance Web Design

I have done a lot of freelance web design and SEO/social media consulting, most notably for a number of non-profit organizations and condominium homeowner's associations. A more comprehensive portfolio will be available on this site soon.
